It's Finals Time!

It's finals time for the Juniors, with the Boys comp starting last week and the Girls this week. Congratulations to the Under 11's, on their do or die match against Waverley Blues and what a match in very trying conditions, as the wind was definitely playing a part in proceedings. The boys were hitting the scoreboard but just couldn't find that elusive goal. They had keep their opposition scoreless for three quarters only to see them goal in the dying minutes of the last quarter. But the boys weren't done yet and they somehow managed to get through a point to even up the game when the siren sounded and it was a draw and extra time! The crowd held their breath as both sides defended strongly to prevent any score and as extra time was coming to a close, the Jets managed to get ball to boot and score a point to hit the lead seconds before the siren rang! So they live to venture further into finals - Good Luck boys! Congratulations to the Under 12'B's on a blinder of a first quarter against Glen Waverly Hawks. In a very early start 8.30am [definitely not the norm for the boys and girls] the team was certainly switched on from the first bounce. Producing a six goal to nil first quarter with the wind, set up the match and shell shocked the opposition didn't have any answers as the team extended their lead each quarter kicking 15 goals for the game a fantastic effort. They now face North Ringwood this week for another must win match to stay in the finals race - and another 8.30am start! The Under 14's were not so lucky coming up against fierce rival Vermont. It was a promising start with the wind, but the opposition pegged them back in the second quarter and gradually pulled away as the game progressed. Our inaccurate kicking didn't help either. In what was a bruising encounter the boys never stopped trying and, having the double chance, get to make amends this week against Upper Ferntree Gully. Our inaugural Under 12 Girls team have had a fantastic season finishing on top of the ladder in their division and playing finals this Sunday. Good luck to the team Junior Final Football this Sunday

Under 12 Girls v Rowville Knights at The Basin at 9.00am The Junior club is also hosting finals and it was a busy week last week thank you to everyone that helped out over the day. The money earned from these two weeks helps in running the club so we are very appreciative of all the help on the day to ensure the event runs smoothly. Sunday will be our last week in running the finals so thanks in advance for all those that once again assist.
