Latest Club Statement in Relation to COVID-19 and Social Distancing Measures

In response to the Victorian Premier’s announcement yesterday in relation to the easing of some social distancing restrictions related to COVID-19, the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) has issued advice and recommendations to all Clubs.

We would like to highlight the following passage from this statement:

“Unlike some States, Sports and Recreation Victoria appears to have put a limit of 10 people per venue. Whilst we are pleased with the announcements there are many key steps that need to be addressed before Official Club sanctioned training can commence. AFL Victoria will seek clarity from the State Government around what the announcement means specifically for the Community Football and the Eastern Football Netball League. One key step will be a comprehensive Return to Training Framework.”

We understand that the CEO’s of metropolitan football leagues will be meeting this week to discuss the framework for a Return to Training and a possible Return to Play date but will be guided in these decisions by AFL Victoria; Sports and Recreation Victoria, the AIS, and the Victorian Department of Health. We expect to hear more by the end of the week.

In the meantime, the EFNL, and we as a Club, ask for your continued patience while we await further information about when and how we can get back to training and hopefully playing football this year.

In the meantime, and following discussions with the Club Executive and the coaching group, there is to be NO club or team training until such time as we are provided with this advice and we can formulate and put in place Club processes and procedures to support this advice.

We encourage all players to stay fit and by all means to take the opportunity to catch up with a few of your team mates to practice your skills provided all health guidelines and social distancing measures are adhered to.

As soon as we know more via information and advice provided the Government, AFL Victoria and the EFNL, we will be in touch with an update.

Till then keep safe and Go Jets!
