Registrations Open for 2021!

Dear Jets Families

What a year 2020 has turned out to be! At last Melbourne is also coming out of lockdown and we are looking at the freedoms that will slowly bring us together again but in vastly changed circumstances.

We are starting to get a ‘little excited’ at the prospect of actually having teams on the park and playing football again after so long, and of course, you all being able to catch up with each other on and off the field.

The planning has been happening behind the scenes and we are pleased to advise that, nearly all of last year’s accredited coaches have put their hands up, to pick up where they left off when football was cancelled. There are just two vacancies, one for our new young players in the Under 8’s and for our Under 12 boys’ team.

Registrations are now open for next season! As previously communicated, all registrations from 2020 have been rolled over to 2021, but you will need to log on to complete your player’s registration, to ensure you spot is guaranteed for 2021. There were a few teams that were at capacity when the season cancelled, so it will be important to register as soon as possible. You will also have to pay the EFNL insurance component, which is again $18 for next season.

Also, with the exciting prospect of brand new rooms down at Heatherdale, possibly starting late 2021, there is an option to donate to the Club Redevelopment Fund in readiness in what may be needed. Click this link to take you to the registration page https://www.jetsjuniors.com/info-on-how-to-register. You will also be able to purchase club merchandise through this link.

Although we are not sure how the season will look, our Football Director, Wayne Judge, has again been working behind the scenes and we hope to continue on with many of the incentives that have been introduced over the past seasons.

We expect to field 14 teams in 2021 across all age groups, our Boys’ competition from Under 8’s to U17’s and Girls’ competition from Under 10’s to Under 18’s.

The Jets are committed to player development and have successfully ran programs over the last few years including -

  • We will like to run our pre-season JetStart program again for our competitive age groups. This will be totally dependent on Government Guidelines.

  • Wayne has been in constant communication with South Launceston Junior football Club, our partnership club in Tasmania, and we will see what can done in 2021. We would love the opportunity to win back the Interstate Cup Challenge shield.

  • We will continue to introduce SALT (Sports and Life Training) sessions to many of the teams, both boys and girls. These sessions provide personal development and support and are conducted by a professional agency. Topics included drug and alcohol education, well-being, and mental health support, respect.

So in closing, stay safe, wash your hands, social distance and wear a mask, and I hope all these precautions let us come back together for another exciting football season in 2021. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries.

Kind regards
