Welcome to the 2022 season!

Dear Jets Families,

Football made a comeback under different circumstances in 2021 which was great after no football in 2020. Even if it was a stop start season with Covid 19 still playing a major part in the landscape, it was great to play 12 games, in a challenging environment. Thanks must go to the EFNL who did everything possible, especially in their scheduling, to ensure we did get back on the park in 2021.

We are all hopeful that season 2022 will be a season without any disruption, and in the last two years we have found out how adaptable we can be, so that all looks promising for next year.

The planning has been happening behind the scenes and we are pleased to advise that, nearly all of last year’s accredited coaches have put their hands up for Season 2022. We will be looking for an Under 8’s coach, Under 18 Girls and new team this season in Under 16 Boys.

Registrations are now open for next season! The club asks you all to register as soon as possible to help us to establish team numbers for 2022. Why not take advantage of our early bird discount which goes until November 30th. Please note:- you will also have to pay the EFNL insurance component, before next season to complete the registration prior to the season start. We will advise at a later day what the amount will be.

Also, as most of you are aware the Whitehorse Council are building a fabulous new pavilion at Heatherdale starting November 2021, it will be completed by October 2022. There is an option to donate to the Club Redevelopment Fund in readiness in what may be needed.

On the football planning, our Football Director, Wayne Judge, has again been working behind the scenes and we hope to continue on with many of the incentives that have been introduced over the past seasons.

We expect to field 16 teams in 2022 across all age groups, our Boys’ competition from Under 8’s to U17.5’s, with the inclusion on an U16 side, and the U17’s stretching out by 6 months, and Girls’ competition from Under 10’s to Under 18’s, we will be reintroducing U18’s in 2022.

The Jets are committed to player development and have successfully ran programs over the last few years including -

  • Our pre-season JetStart program again for our competitive age groups, which we are looking at running in 2022. The is also looking at introducing some Summer Footy Skills Clinics for our non-competitive teams.

  • Wayne has been in constant communication with South Launceston Junior football Club, our partnership club in Tasmania, and we will see what can done in 2022 depending on border closures. We would love the opportunity to win back the Interstate Cup Challenge shield.

  • We will continue to introduce SALT (Sports and Life Training) sessions to many of the teams, both boys and girls. These sessions provide personal development and support and are conducted by a professional agency. Topics included drug and alcohol education, well-being, and mental health support, respect.

So in closing, thanks to all of you that made this year possible and let’s do it all again next year! Stay safe, wash your hands, social distance, wear a mask and where possible get vaccinated. I hope all these precautions let us come back together for a full and exciting football season in 2022. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries.

Kind regards,

Joanne Hart-Parker
