Committee 2023 - Junior Coordinator Wanted

We are highlighting some high priority committee roles for 2023 this week in the lead up to Jets Juniors AGM on Friday 2nd September at 7pm. Available Position - JUNIOR COORDINATOR

Reports to:

Director of Football/Committee


Purpose of the role

The position of Junior Coordinator has been established to provide support and guidance to our most junior teams from Auskick to U10’s. Coaches and parents of these teams are often new to running a football team and the junior coordinator acts as an experienced guide as they start their journey at our club.


The position reports directly to the Director of Football and works closely with the Junior President and Junior Secretary.


Key Skills for Role
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Australian Football/Auskick

  • Football coaching accreditation and experience

  • Capable of managing coaches and volunteers

  • Person must be well organised

  • Great verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to prioritise workload

  • Capable of organising other volunteers to assist with weekly activities

  • Current Working with Children Check

  • Experience with volunteer environments


Duties & Responsibilities
  • The role of the Junior-Co-ordinator of Football includes

  • Selecting and appointing Auskick coordinators and assist them to establish Auskick centres at HE Parker and Heatherdale reserve

  • Assisting with the selection and appointment of U8, U9, and U10 coaches at the junior club

  • Developing a positive football and coaching culture within the junior teams

  • Providing coaching and mentorship for Auskick coordinators and non-competitive coaches

  • Evaluating coaching performance on match days and training to provide feedback

  • Distributing football and coaching information to teams

  • Enabling coaches to establish networks within their peer group

  • Sharing program of courses and accreditation for coaches

  • Contributing to football and coaching policies for Auskick and non-competitive teams.

  • Organising and conducting monthly coaches forum meetings for Auskick Co-ordinators and coaches in conjunction with the Director of Football

  • Communicating regularly with parents and players in our Auskick database

  • Assisting in the promotion of our two Auskick centres

  • Working with the Junior Treasurer to manage the Auskick finances and bank accounts

  • Hosting the end of year Auskick awards and presentations


Time Commitment
  • Approx. 6-10 hours per week, fixed term employment (March - August)

  • Busy times:

    • March to April - Setting up teams and recruiting volunteer helpers

    • July to August - Work to promote new U8 teams from Auskick participants and setup for next season.
