Round 13 Match Report - Jets U10 Girls vs Chirnside Park

Paul Telford - Coach

What a great day for footy! Sun was out & the girls really made the most of their 2nd last game.

A fast start this week which was especially nice to see – it tells me the girls are still keen & enjoying their footy. Maybe the coach had it wrong in his last report??

A lot more handballing this week, after perhaps a few games of ‘lowish’ handball numbers. A passage of play that saw us kick pass & mark 3 times in a row was also another sign of great improvement.

The moment of the day was clearly the loud roar by the crowd, deep into the last quarter, when Poppy Skerry kicked her first ever goal in footy! This means that all 21 girls on the list have slotted a sausage roll this season! It’s not all about goals, but it’s one of my most satisfying moments of the season. It’s the most tangible way of feeling as though you have contributed to the team. I’m super glad all of the girls have got to experience it. Especially the girls playing their first season.

I’m also particularly pleased that all girls are grasping the concept of see ball, get ball. Grace & Ash thoroughly deserved their awards.

One final training session. One final game to go. We’re going to make the most of it.
